Approved documents

The Building Regulations contain minimum requirements to which buildings in England must comply. You can find advice on our website, or contact us directly if you have any queries.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities publish guidance called ‘Approved Documents’ explaining ways to meet building regulations. These contain:

  • general guidance on the performance expected of materials and building work in order to comply with the building regulations
  • practical examples and solutions on how to achieve compliance for some of the more common building situations

They can be found on the GOV.UK website.
