Accessibility Statement for Leicestershire Building Control Partnership website

The Leicestershire Building Control's website has been developed for and is managed by Leicestershire Building Control Partnership.

Using this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of our website may not be fully accessible. Some downloadable older PDF/Word documents aren’t fully accessible to screen reader software.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Contacting us by phone or visiting us in person

The Minicom service is a telephone typewriter device for communication for people who are deaf, hearing impaired or have a speech impediment.  A Minicom is like a telephone with a small keyboard and screen. Instead of speaking, you type in what you want to say. Then, by inputting a Minicom number, your message is relayed down the telephone line and appears on the screen of the member of staff you are calling (it is held on reception).

Our Blaby District Council offices have audio induction loops, or if you contact us before your visit we can arrange a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter or someone to translate a language other than English.

We offer braille copies of documents, bills, webpages and other resources upon request. We will also discuss with the customer when arranging to find the best solution.

Please contact us using our Contact Us page.

Compliance Status

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some of our PDFs and Word Documents are essential to providing our services. The accessibility regulations don’t require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards unless we determine that they represent a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. Ultimately we plan to provide an accessible HTML version of the information as the primary source.
